Larry Thomas, a lifelong resident of Tyler County, would like to announce his candidacy for the Tyler County Board of Education and is asking for the support of the citizens of Tyler County. Previously Larry served on the Board of Education for 20 years.

Larry is very much a family man. He is the son of Jack and Nila Thomas of Indian Creek and has been married to Sandy Thomas for 42 years. Sandy is employed as a Deputy Clerk for the Tyler County Commission and is a member of the Adams House Ministries Advisory Committee. Together Larry and Sandy have three sons. Shane (Carrie) Thomas of Ludowici, GA where Shane is employed by Target Warehouse, Ben (Katrina) Thomas of Middlebourne where Ben is employed as a Behavior Specialist at Doddridge County Schools and Katrina is employed as a teacher by Tyler County Schools, and Ryan (Amanda) Thomas of West Union where Ryan is employed as a Deputy Sheriff and a School Resource Officer of Doddridge County and Amanda is employed as a teacher by Doddridge County Schools. Altogether, Larry and Sandy have twelve grandchildren.

Larry is excited about the future of Tyler County Schools and wants to be a voice for you. He wants to make Tyler County Schools strong by addressing concerns pertaining to student achievement and discipline, school facilities, bullying and personnel.  Having served on the Board of Education for 20 years, Larry is aware and will be committed to upholding policies and laws to help Tyler County Schools continue to flourish in academic excellence.  He hopes to promote students in their academics and extracurricular activities in efforts to empower them to pursue their goals in life while increasing awareness of the efforts of bullying among children of all ages.  In the next few years Larry would like to see an In-County Tech Center built, Tyler FFA Meat Lab renovated and teachers added to downsize the number of students in our classrooms to provide more one on one education for the students. Larry supports local job fairs to attract personnel to our county.

Larry is currently servicing on MOVTI Committee Council.  He is employed part-time for Council of Senior Tyler Countians (Tyler County Senior Center, Middlebourne, WV).

He wants to pledge support and wish the best of luck to all the candidates running for Tyler County Board of Education.
