While the magistrate appointments are technically ef- fective May 1, Weigle will continue as Tyler County Sheriff for a few more days as neither he nor Cline can take oiffce until May 20. “There is a 20-day waiting period between judicial appointments and when judicial appointments may take oiffce,” explained Jennifer Bundy, public infor- mation oiffcer for the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, referring to a section in the State Code that requires a 20-day pause to allow for challenges based on qualications or eligibility. Both positions will be on the May 2024 ballot.
