This is not a decision I take lightly, nor a decision I wanted to make; but a decision that I feel is necessary and the best for me to be able to focus on my health.” Davis, 43, a political activist who took office in July 2016, after serving two years as a councilman, has been open about his health issues, having been born with congenital scoliosis, a sideways curvature of the spine. Fire destroys single-family home on Haymond Ridge DEEP VALLEY – An overnight fire Sept. 30 destroyed a single-family house on Haymond Ridge off of Deep Valley near the Doddridge County line. By the time fire departments arrived at the isolated lo- cation, the structure was fully engulfed and there was little that could be done, according to authorities. The house, its contents as well as a passenger vehicle parked by the home were destroyed. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire re- mains under investigation. Shirley, Alma and Middlebourne volunteer fire depart- ments responded and were assisted by tanker support from Doddridge County. The Tyler County Sheriff’s Office also responded and Sistersville VFD staged at the Alma firehouse to provide additional coverage. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
